Moms for Liberty responds to DOJ Whistleblower Letter Confirming They Were Investigated by FBI after AG Garland Testified Under Oath Parents Were Not Being Targeted

The nationwide advocacy group for the empowerment of parents, Moms for Liberty, is responding today with the following statement after news that they have been named in a US Department of Justice whistleblower letter which confirmed parents were targeted by the FBI for speaking up at school board meetings last year. This news comes ahead of the group’s first national summit meeting, which will be held in Tampa, FL (July 14-17th).

Statement from Tiffany Justice and Tina Descovich, Moms for Liberty Founders:

“This whistleblower letter should be an alarm bell for every mom in our country. We now have proof of what many of us suspected and some of us knew: that the Department of Justice was using counter-terrorism authority under the PATRIOT Act to investigate parents of schoolchildren who were exercising their first amendment right to petition their local government for a redress of grievances.

“We at Moms for Liberty knew first hand of the first example Jim Jordan cited, because she was - as the whistleblower letter says - one of our members. The mother was terrified. She had been contacted by the FBI. She had been told by the FBI not to say anything about that call. She had also been told that there were many other mothers being investigated.

“Once the federal government uses our own taxpayer money to harness federal resources and federal officials to investigate law-abiding parents who attend public meetings and speak their minds, everyone’s free speech is at risk. We have the right to ask questions of public officials and demand accountability from those in public office.

“We believe in empowering moms to understand their fundamental rights, as protected and enumerated by our founding fathers; and using the federal government against its own peaceful citizens is exactly the kind of oppression our nation has stood against since its very creation. We hope every mom takes note of this. It is our group today, but tomorrow it could be you. It could be anyone.”

As Fox News Reported:
In one investigation, FBI officials interviewed a mom for allegedly telling a school board member "we are coming for you." The person reported the mom because she belonged to a "right wing mom’s group" called "Moms for Liberty" and because she is a gun owner. FBI officials eventually determined this mom was not a threat.

Moms for Liberty is dedicated to fighting for the survival of America by unifying, educating, and empowering parents to defend their parental rights at all levels of government. The group is holding its first National Summit in Tampa Florida from July 14-17th. Registration link.
